WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE NEEDLE AND THREAD STYLE FOR SUMMER?
The Summer Blossom Ankle Gown! My heart did a little flip when I first saw it. I love the puff sleeves - total Bridgerton vibes - and then the ankle grazing length gives it the perfect twirl. I’ll be wearing it with flats as much as I will with heels.
WHAT IS THE BEST CAREER ADVICE YOU'VE EVER BEEN GIVEN?
There is the old adage that the fashion industry is made up of show ponies and work horses. For me, it’s a balance of knowing when to work like a horse at your desk until midnight, and when to put on a dress, get out there and network. Over the last year, it's been just as important to network via webinars, Clubhouse or even walk meetings in the park! It's that passion for sharing of ideas to shape the future of the industry that encouraged me and my business partner Rachel Arthur to found FashMash back in 2012. Networking doesn't need to be the corporate interpretation of old - it can be fun and it's almost always inspiring!
WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED FOR WHEN LONDON RE-OPENS?
The New Covent Garden Flower Market! I know I should say something glamorous like restaurants but I've missed visiting early in the morning with my baby daughter. We know some of the sellers and she's been going since she was three months old - the colour, scents and sounds always start my day so happily. But don't get me wrong, there's the other side of me too. I can't wait to get a babysitter over, put my dancing shoes on and go ‘out out’. Bring on a crowded dance floor and some Ibiza house classics!
YOU'RE KNOWN TO HOST FABULOUS DINNER PARTIES! WHERE DO YOU DRAW INSPIRATION FROM WHEN TABLESCAPING?
Travel, nature and colours... There's always one starting point. Two years ago when I travelled a lot it might have been a plate from a souk or a block-printed fabric from an artisan. After 18 months in the UK I've still been finding inspiration but it's been things much closer to home like flowers or a vintage plate. I also love to work within parameters. I love the challenge of a friend saying "it's my birthday and your theme is Coachella Barbie" (yes, that was a genuine brief!).
WHO WOULD BE YOUR DREAM DINNER PARTY GUEST?
So hard to choose one! For years I would have said Keith Richards from the Rolling Stones... His stories would keep me and my guests captivated all night and with any luck he'd play a chord or two. But then I watched Bridgerton and the Duke of Hastings has taken his place at the table!
